Immune-Boosting Remedies from your Kitchen: Thyme, Garlic, and the power of Oxymels
Many of our culinary herbs and everyday foods have excellent immune-boosting properties. Learning more about them enables us to intentionally create remedies for ourselves that can be extremely beneficial during the winter months and stay healthy during cold and flu season. Two such herbs, thyme and garlic, have properties that can boost our immune systems and protect us from unwanted pathogens that make us sick. In this workshop, we'll learn about the medicinal properties of thyme and garlic, and touch on some other immune-boosting herbs for cold & flu season as well, including echinacea and elderberry. We will then see a demonstration of how to make a thyme-garlic oxymel, which is an herbal preparation made with honey and vinegar. We'll cover the basics of oxymels and their standard recipe so that participants can create simple yet powerful immune-boosting remedies at home.
