From Oil to Salve: Harnessing Calendula’s Skin Healing Power

  • Fig Leaf Gardens 4046 39th Avenue Oakland, CA, 94619 United States (map)

In this workshop, we’ll take the calendula oil we made in Session 2 and turn it into a simple yet effective healing salve. Calendula salve is a versatile remedy for skin issues such as cuts, burns, and scratches, and is also commonly used for diaper rash, post-surgery scar healing, and even doubles as chapstick. Through this session, you’ll get a chance to replace store-bought balms with your own handmade creation, crafted from flowers we grew or gathered nearby. You’ll leave with your own handmade salve, along with a solid understanding of the salve-making process that you can apply to any herbal oil. We’ll also explore other herbal preparations you can create using plants that are likely already growing around you. Join us for a hands-on medicine-making, informative session that will leave you with new skills and a natural remedy to take home!
